Adult Care Facilities Surveyors– (RN req’d)

Based in downtown New York City, this Registered Nurse travel position assists the New York State Department of Health in conducting surveillance and investigation of Adult Care Facilities. Responsibilities include conducting the following:

  • Pre-opening Survey Inspections to determine compliance with regulatory requirements;
  • Complete Inspection comprehensive surveys of resident rights, resident financial accounts, dietary/medication and case management activities, maintenance and compliance with sanitary and safety codes;
  • Partial Inspections;
  • Follow-up Inspections;
  • Complaints Investigations inclusive of Adult Care Facilities operating without being licensed;

This position is majority travel, will be onsite at facilities in the five boroughs of New York City and the New Rochelle region covering Sullivan, Orange, Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester counties. Mileage and accommodation reimbursement provided.

Non-travel days are based out of the NYSDOH lower Manhattan office.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Superior investigative and analytical skills; proficient in conducting interviews with facility staff and residents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to achieve customer satisfaction in difficult or controversial situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with facility staff and management, DOH surveillance team members and State managers.
  • Computer proficiency with the ability to learn new programs.
  • Must have a valid driver's license & the ability to travel to on-site facilities review assignments, required. 

 EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • New York Licensed Registered Nurse, required.
  • Graduate of an approved, registered professional nursing program, required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of survey experience, required.

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. The annualized salary range for this position is $80,000.00 – $87,500.00.  Actual salary range and /or hourly rate depends on a variety of factors including experience, education, credentials, location, and budget.
